Just to be clear, we will email you, and only call if we don't get a response to your email within a reasonable time frame. We will do both, though. And grats, RiXin. Yesterday was a bit of a crazy day, but I haven't forgotten you. It's only the Blizzcon tickets that people need to be in a rush to claim—Blizzard needs our list of names right away. All the other prizes are a little more relaxed. :)
If you guys really love your wowhead users you would give me the blizzcon tickets..... I don't know how that show's love to anyone, but It would be the best late birthday present ever =P Thanks to the Wowhead team who I think are REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY smart....and pretty =)
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
anyone else notice that the winners so far have both just joined recently?i smell a conspiracy...*sniff*...or that could just be me
I think its sad that the first two winners are people without profiles that join the day the contest started. Who won't be back on this site after the contest. YaY!
In regards to the previous winners: Before i signed up for this contest i looked into the previous winners of the Christmas contest...Blech, i would so much rather that a regular contributor got the prizes, even if it wasn't me. Random user names winning prizes i just cant seem to relate with and don't get me excited. If i can see its a user that has contributed, I can Armory their char, look into their opinions about various WoW related things, makes it that much easier to imagine the excitement, winning vicariously through them. On the whole no Europe/Canada thing, i think that's more about APC/Blizz wanting info on US users since they tend to spend more money and comprise of a larger share of their market.
Grats to the winners so far!I also agree that there should be some prerequisites for the contests. Maybe at least X number of posts, and preferably a score in the positive on those total posts. I don't think it would be a good idea to penalize people for just joining now (after all, they may have some very interesting things to say), I just think that having a small number of good (or at least inoffensive) posts would show that they're fully fledged members of Wowhead. Hopefully there's a good system in place to enforce the "One entry per household" clause...
It would be nice to have contests for users that continuously contribute. If the Wowhead team is planning another Wowhead Birthday contest, I'd like to see the winners be people that don't simply create an account for the contest and stop contributing after they've won, which is what all three winners last year did.
Funny how the last two people that won just signed up less than a week ago. Now I'm not saying that those that have been with the site longer should have a greater chance, but, well, maybe I am.
