That's quite a pro-gamer point of view. Even good but not pro players can not time like a 13-14 while pretty much not dying etc. And I tried to do some low M+ on my alt and quite often people at those levels aren't competitive in any aspect, they oftenly don't know basic mechanics... and the game doesn't show your errors, ways to improve etc post fight / post encounter. As for mythic gear from M+ - I bought the azerite pieces and ilvl is mythic but the gear is random. Gearing isn't planned/simed as much as raid gearing can go (RIP master loot). At best access to 1-3 Mythic bosses opens for some fresh azerite, a trinket or a weapon.Blizzard should keep ilvl equal but give custom azerite row for content it's from and for. Secondly they could add some options, maybe enchants-type thing (non-gem sockets?) to enchant non-azerite gear with bonuses working in content gear is from and for - with mats like the mechagon punch cards - getting stronger with M+/PvP/Raid level.Requiring run to be timed would made leave-factor way bigger and would also increase meta-oriented class stacking even more. People above play classes/specs perceived as must have for high M+ which is seeping to lower keys like even +12 rdruid or reject. If stuff must be timed it will make RIO look like candy...As for one weekly run needed - Blizz should avoid having fixed cut-on values. +9 is bad, +10 is golden. On my alt I could not run +6 as essence was from +7. Make it a bar to fill that fills more with key level, time used etc, and for Shadowlands players customization - allow picking challenge-rewards to work for during the week wherever for pvp, m+, raid or world questing player for his type of content.
15s should not be giving mythic quality raid loot, because they are not on par with the difficulty of mythic raids. Higher keys are, however. But assuming they are going to make 15s give mythic-level loot, requiring completion is a bad idea, even if that SHOULD be the case in isolation. As they noted, bail-culture is already common for people pushing .io score. It would only drastically increase the quantify of dead keys due to "bad dungeons" or people leaving if they knew they would get nothing for it in a depletion. Terrible idea in practice. The first sign of something that may be wrong will lead to vastly increased leavers. That said, it is dumb that mythic raid becomes the best source of loot to push keys. It would be as absurd similarly if you had to do high level pvp to push mythic raid. The two systems should be entirely separate and provide gear unique to pushing keys, Both work in world content, but each only from its respective instanced content. This would prevent being forced to do 1 to do the other. But this article is also wrong anyway. Everything isn't the same. The cap is being raised at 15, but everything else is not relatively the same as it was in previous patches. YOu need to do a 14 next season to get equivalent loot to a 10 now. By their assumption, it would entail no difference in loot between a 10 and a 14 if the only change is at 15. That would be absurd.
Have been having this discussion on the wow forums, yea can't say I expect people to react well to this kind of logical approach. There's a lot of reasons why raiding needs to have more incitatives than other content, and I see it as a main piece of the game if you try to be competitive. But that doesn't mean the other content can't reward something close to, just that it shouldn't become better than it or equivalent. One thing to think tho, is that M+ doesn't add any mechanics past a +10. If we had this discussion with cm, nobody would argue that cm needs to drop the best loot in the game. And M+ is already a very good avenue for gear when you compare the amount of drop and efficiency for doing only 1 key and getting a weekly chest of very high value.
Gosh, These hosts are so handsome and hunky. I'm glad to see more content from them! Very smart and informed opinions!
I don't feel like they should be equal. Mythic+ you can do over and over and get gear. You don't even have to finish in time. Mythic raiding is once a week, massive coordination, 20 people and a chance not to get anything. Mythic+ devalues raiding. It's getting harder to fill raids sometimes because why raid when you can just do mythic + dungeons?
...It's an mmo. If there were solo challenges that equaled mythic raiding, no one would raid. Nothing will ever equal what you have to put into mythic raiding, so the highest rewards should go to it.
It amazes me that so many folks think Mythic raiding is the top end of WoW, and even more astonishing when people are elitist about it. The number of players who average even a meager 1800 rating in arena are still a significantly smaller portion than those that routinely mythic raid or do high key M+. And yet the rewards for PvP are still below Mythic raiding and M+ by a decent margin. All of this chest beating about how Mythic raiders shouldn't have their "glory" stolen from them by the Mythic+ers is hilarious to those of us that PvP at a competent level. Our gear's competitive edge was taken from us a long, long time ago. Hell, we still don't even have legitimate gear vendors. There's a reason why most PvPers resent raiding--it's an insult that far easier content gives so much better loot for such little effort having been put in. I 100% agree with this new loot system; the only part of Mythic raiding that has even been remotely on par with the difficulty of high-rated PvP are the last bosses of the raid. Whosoever convinces themselves that Mythic raiding is the hardest portion of WoW is up for a stern surprise when they jump into high rated arena. After all, how can fighting a bunch of puzzle bosses (that you literally watch youtube guides for) ever be more difficult than facing the most skilled players in the world?
Maybe the solution is just to give m+ gear special bonus like benthic that only works in dungeon and raid gear special bonus that only works in raid that way everyone can just do whatever they want. Or sets bonus with raid gear that onlyn works in raid or in dungeons
Different content needs its own unique loot: All able to reach mythic-ilvl, but starter level if you use it in other content. The times where mythic raids are the be-all-end-all of WoW should be far behind us.
I think this makes complete sense. It’s always ultimately going to be about downing the boss at the end of the raid. You don’t have to raid, but if you want the best gear you should. I don’t think casuals should be catered to in this instance. I’m not a mythic raider at all, I am a heroic raider and I push keys regularly with my guild. So I love that I can get mythic level gear in keys now if I push high enough. Which will benefit me in raiding, and can encourage more people to run mythic raid. Keys are not easy, but it’s super repeatable content and key runners shouldn’t get better gear than raiders. PvP shouldn’t either since it’s something that can be done at anytime as many times as you like. They should get good gear, but not at as high of a level as a raid. I keep hearing “what about casual players” I used to be one and I was jealous of others with the top gear. So I became a regular player in order to get better and get the good stuff. If a casual player wants top gear, they should work for it. The game is built around the story. The story “ends” when the last boss of the raid is dead. There is no better excuse to award those who were successful the best gear, than that. Just my opinion/2 cents
