If anything I'm more confused by this statement. Are they planning on buffing the gems again (and if so why was this done in the first place?), cause otherwise I don't see how there wouldn't be a change in our stats?
Most likely adjustments to item budgets on the back end.
Sounds like the kind of answer you would get from a politician.
I'm with Lynixai. I now know less than before the statement!
Does this mean primary stats have more power in 8.2.5?
Pog, blue post commented on my thread
not sure what this means
If I was to guess, gems are going to be needed, not just mainstay but secondary stat ones too. I'm honestly not suppried either, because a socket is just way to powerful for something that has a low percent of being on gear, and cannot be realisticly farmed on gear because of its random nature. In many cases for many classes a socket is preferred of several stages of WF, and that is a feels bad man moment when you get a 20 ilvl ring that gets scraped just because it has no socket
Dont forget crafted personal gear that comes with a guaranteed socket. And the fact that armor crafters gets two personal items with sockets.
What it means is that this is only the FIRST of TWO changes. The second change, that will be explained in the future, will make this change make more sense. Obviously, the second change will be something stat related that will make 100 primary stat just as valuable as 120.
I mean guessing the math is quite simple, whatever the changes, 100 main stat will be worth what 120 is worth now. They will likely bump 1 point Main stat up to 1.2 value. I expect 1 point of secondaries to be bumped down 0.955ish value. Or something along those lines. They just probably don't want the main stat gems to be that much of a diference as it'd do nothing in reducing the absurd power current sockets have.(Most healers also already prefer Main Stat so much so that at least Holy sockets both Levi and Kraken's Eyes before any secondaries. That being said this is just due to the nature of these changes gonna mean that most of those healers are gonna be buffed since their current itemization only got better)
I don't think this has anything to do with trying to rebalance secondary vs primary stats. My guess is that the "cleanup of how stats are calculated for some gems" is related to the gem scaling with ilvl, which is most relevant for Timewalking (when gems get scaled down). After the 'second fix' is implemented, I expect that Leviathan's Eye will return to 120 primary stat, this is how I interpret the meaning of "there should be no overall changes to their stats".
@wowhead "the gems should have the same power as they have currently" replacing the word "power" with "stats" would clear up some confusion I thinkOverall it sounds like blizzard used to have messy and ugly code calculating the stats on a gem. They made the code pretty, step 2 is to readjust the values back to how they are on livethat's it, nothing is changingmain stat isn't going to become more powerful (that would be a huge change)secondary stats won't become weakerNothing is changing here, move along ^^
How about nerfing the requirements for crafting rings so we can actually make them without it being a complete nightmare?
