Note that when the guide says "The Grateful Dead" quest can only be completed once, this doesn't mean once *per year* it means once... EVER.This means you can't get the temporary pet this year if you had one last year, making it quite possibly the most un-fun companion pet in the entire game.
The Bread of the Dead is only able to be made at the ghostly cooking fire near Catrina.
I've always wondered why Blizz hasn't bothered to make this holiday more fun. It's one of the most pointless holidays thanks to the lack of stuff to do and temporary rewards that you can only get once. There is so much potential in this holiday.

I really REALLY dont understand why they made the pet last only a day :( He's so cute. I ran out to get him since I wasn't playing at this time last year so I just got the bummer news flash that he only lasts a day. /sadpanda
Its a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake.
Don't know why the Marionette wasn't just a normal pet. It's not like anyone would care about being fairly easy to get, as many other pets are, but it would allow for an actual extra pet, rather than something that would be cool but ends up disappointing.
If they ever figured out how to put elections in game, that would be the worst event ever, lol.
Also should be pointed out that the Honor the Dead costume lasts 12 hours... real time. Unlike the Halloween costumes which your character wears for 60 minutes of game time. That is, if you play for ten minutes and then log out for two hours, when you come back the Halloween costume would still have fifty or so minutes. I got the "undead" Honor the Dead at nearly the same time on several characters yesterday. Then played one of them for most of the day. When I logged into another character later that evening, the costume had almost expired, even though I hadn't played the character at all. Also of minor note: The Macabre Marionette does not count towards the achievement. Unsurprising since this is not an actual permanent companion, but I figured I should try anyway (at 74/75 companions on my paladin, thought this might be an easy way to get the last).Combined with the racial capitals, the one-time-ever quests (even better if you travel half way across the world only to find out you did the quest last year), and the Day of the Dead exclusives like the pet and the consumable... yep, I have to agree with "worst event ever."
