i think it's rather funny when people complain about the money thing. "all blizzard does is take our money they don't care about the game they just want our money."so why is it you play wow if you feel blizzard only cares about taking your money? is it because most other mmo's are also pay to play but there's so much issues with the games and the fact they never fix anything? blizzard may have some issues, but if you compare WoW to the other MMO's out there. WoW comes out far ahead. Sure they've lost the elitist attitute that was around in classic and even in TBC. But for the most part the game is rather polished compared to any other game. I do agree that the new talent trees are bland. So far their design goal is not being reached. Every talent tree released so far, it's pretty easy to see what would be the cookie-cutter build. only a few trees you kinda sit there thinking...where the hell should i put this point. there are a few trees like resto shamans that feel like you wish you had more talent points...which is a good thing. it causes you to have to think. but most trees aren't even close to that and they should be.
I am sure all of you have tried the new talent trees, build your new pretty specs to 85, and either pleased or disappointed either way. I dont think that is even half the worst of it.Try filling a spec to 80...er 79, its all you have enough points for, the next point is at 81, it is not very satisfying. The specs at 80 seem like a regression of talents to like level 72, and significantly weakens the effectiveness until reaching 85.With talents like that, I am not even sure how well raiding something like ICC10 will be until reaching level 85, it seriously looks that weakened. I know some spells come earlier in leveling now, but is anyone else seeing this? Is there something else to counteract the weakened talent tree at 80?
well that's hard to say tbh...according to GC we shouldn't see much change in our dmg come cata but that's usually never the case. I'm sure classes like palys will see some game changing performance due to holy power and other talent revamps. we'll just have to wait and see tbh. can't assume anything till their done with the class changes.
I have looked over most of them, and I honestly don't like them.1.There is very little choice in anything, most of the time, if you put 31 talents points in, it will take up all the spots in the talent tree. A few times, depending on the build and the class, you could skip 2 spots or more, but that was about it. It doesn't seem very fun if you don't have a choice in the matter. Not to mention it will be level 69 before you have 31 talent points btw.2.I am using one of the mage talents as a example here, lets say you are going to put 3 talents in Hot Streak. Now it takes 6 level before you get a 100% chance for it to happen. This mean when you put 1 talent in, you have a 33% chance it will proc. , and 2 levels later when you put another talent in, you have 66% and 2 more levels after that, you finally have a 100%. This seems to be annoying, to me at least, that for 4 levels after you put 1 talent in, you are just gambling and hoping it will work when you land 2 crids. Instead of how it use to be, were it was 2 levels after you put 1 talent in. Seems as if this will mean alot time before you can have that 100% chance for it to work, and don't get me started on the molten armor.3.I do like the few passive benefits that you get when choosing that specialization at the beginning, when picking your talent tree. However, I noticed something. I think I will use the warriors Vitality, it no longer give a 9% strength bonus. Though it does give +15% stamina instead. It seems as if there is no talent or passive ability's that give a % bonus to strength anymore, use too Improved Berserker Stance gave +20% strength. I dont know why, maybe they intend to change things to were you wont need it, but its hard to think that a Death Knight, or a DPS warrior wouldn't need strength as bad anymore. Then I noticed there isn't any Armored to the teeth anymore as well, meaning your armor no longed gives 3 attack power for every 108 armor, seems to mean even less damage now. Maybe they intend for ability's you learn from trainers to make up for these things, but even after I skimmed over ability's you will be able to learn from the trainer in cata, it still looks like a big nerf to me. Unless they intend to allow you to get these buff later on "As characters move into the level 78+ areas in Cataclysm, they'll begin seeing items with a new stat, Mastery. Once they learn the Mastery skill from their class trainer they'll receive bonuses from the stat based on the tree they've specialized in." I'm not sure exactly what they mean by this, I hope it means that if you pick fury as a warrior, you get a % bonus to strength.bottom line is, I think they doing a few things the exact opposite of what they stated on there blogs for the most part. Not sure limiting your choices this much counts as “concentrated coolness.”EDIT: o.k. they have changed alot of the talents and ability's after I made this post. After I looked at the changes, I have to say, I am very happy. Maybe they read these posts and changed it. Hot Streak is now a 1 talent ability, meaning 1 talent and every crid you get, gives you a chance to cast pyroblast. I am very happy to see they changed this, as a bonus you get Improved Hot Streak meaning, with 2 talents, you get 100% chance after 2 crids to cast pyroblast instantly. This is a bit different than what it was before, but this means you don't need to get 2 crids to get this instant pyroblst cast to happen, you have a chance after "every crid". Then there is the added talent tree buffs (i'm using fire mage as a example, and its stat mastery) Flashburn, the way I take it, it means for every talent you spend in the tree, you get a increased buff. So all this does look good, but alot of things are "very" different, I imagine you will be changing what ever attack rotation you use after cata, alot of ability's dont do what they did before. Like Shield Wall, now it only reduces 40% damage and not 60%. Still a bit unsettling, but they can fix anything if it becomes a problem. They have also made it to were you have 3 more glyph spots, and they have changed the glyphs as well. So 3 prim glyphs, 3 major, 3 minor. This is very nice I think, considering the glyphs they got for you to use.I still dont like how they are kinda forcing use into talent trees, and I would chance 2 things. 1. I would add 1 more talent to every tree, so you cant fill up your tree with all your talents, there would still be room left. 2.add more glyphs, I think we would all like to be able to spec things the way we want it, if we cant do that as well with talents, we should be allowed to do it with glyphs. I would like to have to chose what I want for my class and its ability's and have a choice in the what I want and need. Think them making our character's flexibility and differences more of a glyph thing than a talent thing would be alot better, cause we dont have too "many" options at this point in the talent tree builds. Mainly after the mastery skill was added, but we will have to choose between using those points(you can spend a max of 10 outside your main tree) in our talent tree's or spending them in others or just how many we want to spend outside of your main tree itself.
