i for one can't wait for this to happen i started out as alliance with local friends now that they barely even play as time went on 5 80's later and a few 70ish toons i'm ready to leave alliance for good :)i like to pvp but absolutely just hate alliance pvp never run in groups never heal or offheal eachother i created a horde dk on my server and all the above is what i got when i ran with fellow horde not one time in any game was i alone i was in a group and getting healed it was great!i don't think it would be a betrayal at all to leave your faction if your not happy with it i started out alliance cause i had local friends to play along with i was gonna go horde from the start but didn't know anyone so i think in cases like this the service will be great to be able to change.signed, can't wait for this service!
All this crying from players who won't even be using the system (or so they think right now) doesn't make any sense. You don't want it, fine. Don't use it. Blizzard isn't trying to offer people like YOU a nice service. They are offering people like ME something wonderful.I played Horde originally. My friends played Horde. Eventually, I decided I wanted to make a commitment on the Alliance side and stay there, and that's what I did. However, I have a 60 Shaman and 70 Rogue rotting on the Horde side. I will never bring myself to reroll those toons, as I've already rerolled several Alliance toons and the drudgery involved in leveling just makes it not worth the effort. Why should I have to? I have already done the dirty work and leveled these toons. So now Blizzard is allowing me to pick up where I left off, and actually play these toons again after so long. I am thrilled! This will enable me to play toons that I would never, ever play again because I won't go back to Horde and being an adult with the standard obligations (family, kids, work, post-graduate education) I cannot be bothered to re-level the same toons I already have.Cheers to Blizzard!
I can't wait for this. If you really want to know I have been one of the people asking for this for the past 2 years. In vanilla wow I was all alliance and have all 10 char slots on my server full of 60s. Then in BC all my RL friends wanted to roll horde (some had already done so and had 60s on horde). First I had to either transfer off a 60 or delete them to create a horde char... Then you have to lvl 0-60 all over and then 61-70.I hated this. So I ended up with 4 horde toons (all now 70) and then most of my RL friends quit wow shortly after. So I left a high end raiding guild on alliance to roll horde and now am back to alliance with 4 horde chars that I never play. I'm all for this service to get my Priest, Sham, Druid, and Mage over to alliance. No more rerolling and now I don't feel as if my time on those chars that just sit there was a waste.
Any ETA on this? If it's a while I'll just level an alt myself lol..
So I do a bunch of quests for reputation, then I switch faction. What quests do I have credit for, if any? If I don't get credit for quests, can I then switch back to the original faction without having any quests marked as done? And as to reputation. If I become exaulted with a city through hard work and much effort, am I at zero reputation after switching? This faction switching is one of those things that're easy to whine about wanting. But once it happens, nobody is going to be happy with it. I suspect your quest history gets reset along with all reputation. And I can only imagine how many people will scream if that happens!
Aww, I'd so use this cool ideal if I could keep my Draenei a Draenei after the switch. Maybe one day after they get all the kinks work out of this, until that day my shaman stays where he is.
My RL friends play on 2 different servers, horde and alliance. I started on the horde side, got my hunter to 80, and most stopped playing. Now i have my lvl 80 paladin on the alliance side, and my hordy friends started playing again, but as alliance. We will probably all move our chars to one single server, one single side. Very very nice.
I wouldn't mind using this on my Troll Priest. I have a friend who intends to leave Alliance completely, and I'm fine with that - if he'd stop asking me to do the same! - but I don't see what everybody's problem is.The way I see it, not everyone will do this. If you think about it, the 3.2 patch notes have been pointing to this - the re-introduction of Ravasaur mounts, Night Elves getting more mounts to pick (this evens them out with the Tauren, who are the only other race that can play druids - coincidence? I don't think so) - so Blizz will go ahead with this regardless of our opinions. My only concerns are faction balance and cost. First, the cost. As I said at the top of my post, I'll probably use this on a single character, a simple Troll Priest > Draenei Priest exchange with maybe a name change thrown in. This will probably cost a lot more than I would like, still being somewhere in my teens, but I'd probably be willing to pay it.My other concern, faction balance, is a common issue in these comments. I trust Blizzard on this issue, and I’m fairly sure the population on my ‘home’ realm (Moonglade EU) will remain balanced. What people seem to miss is that even if a bunch of people go from Horde to Alliance, there will no doubt be other people who wish to do the same. But hey, as long as the chance is there it's all good, right?(Wall of text is over, you can flame me now for my opinions if you're so inclined)
I just hope the option of a name change is part of the package and not a separate charge... not sure how well names like "Gnomekilla" or "Orcbasher" would go over if they changed sides. :)
