A new patch 9.0.5 build hit the WoW vendor CDN today, which may indicate a new PTR on the way soon. It's interesting that we've had a longer break than usual between launch and the PTR going up, but with the speculation that Patch 9.1 would release sometime in the Spring, it's a good bet that a smaller .5 patch would probably precede it. Keep in mind that this build is encrypted, so we cannot start datamining yet.
In the past, new PTRs have started relatively soon after the first vendor update. For example, in Patch 8.2, the
encrypted vendor build
hit on April 4th, with the
content reveal
on April 11th and first PTR build on April 17th.
However, we're not sure if we'll see any new patch datamining before
BlizzConline
, as it will probably be a major showcase piece for the online event. Blizzard also utilized tech that hid most of the Battle for Azeroth War Campaign quests and dialogue from datamining, so they may try to hide things before giving too much away.
Previously .5 patches have added things like updated models, heritage armor sets, alt catch ups, new mini-reputation grinds, and follow-on campaign quests, such as the Goblin & Worgen models, bee mount rep, and final chapter of the War Campaign in
patch 8.2.5
, so this build could include a wide range of new content. So far, we're speculating new Timewalking, Anima catch ups, more Maw content, or the return of the Brawlers Guild - what would you like to see?
