Oct 30th, 2010. Still bugged.

There is a way around it, however, and you don't need to be a pet class (although it helps if you have long ranged abilities to pull, which I believe at this point every class and spec does). I was on a ret paladin.

Like a previous poster said, you need to be in the area The Clutch. Kelp'thar Forest will not work, even though you see the sharks you need. If you notice, there is a bit of mob phasing that happens when you transition between Kelp'thar Forest to The Clutch. That's the reason why the sharks will disappear when you try to pull them closer to the holding pens (which, by the way, is NOT a labeled area, but the area you need to end up in is highlighted on your map and still called The Clutch).

It took me some maneuvering and waiting for them to swim close enough (had to go up or down sometimes) before I pulled one to me. I had to stun the shark with HoJ before I could subdue him (didn't try bothering bringing him low enough as most subduing quests work, but it seemed like he interrupted your cast when he was able to attack you). Unfortunately, the second I got on, it gave me the warning that I need to return to the holding pens but before I could do anything, he despawned.

Do what I said before, but kite him closer to the holding pens (you don't have to be in the highlighted area on your map, but the closer the better). He WILL leash if you try to kite him too far. After I felt he was comfortably close, I was able to complete this quest.

The best spot to catch one is by the purple Naga flags at the front of the area.

Be sure to stand between the naga flags.
Have a ranged pull a shark in and then use the item.
The shark will not despawn then.

Still bugged, I tried it a few times. I don't think there should be a boundary issue with this quest at all, thats what is bugging it.

Quest does work... completed it yesterday... have to pull shark into the clutch before trying to use orb...

Still bugged as of November 7th. The sharks de-spawn whenever you drag them into the clutch.

I'm on my pally, and my only ranged ability is exorcism.

I managed to pull a shark to me via exorcism, and use the orb.
I mount the shark, but a second shark will immediately spawn upon mounting. The second glitch-shark attacks, I am dismounted, the previously mounted shark swims away, and the glitch-shark despawns. All in the course of about a millisecond.

This has to be by far, the most annoying glitch I've ever encountered.

I attempted to mount the shark several times, only to have the exact same glitch repeat itself each time.

Obscenities were muttered, a bug report was submitted, and an aspirin was taken.

I hope they take care of this glitch, because I really want to explore the Earthen Ring questlines.

Happy to report that as of 11/14, this quest appears to FINALLY be fixed!

The Famished Great Sharks can now be found in the clutch, closer to the surface, directly above the Naga you are to eat.

I had two problems with this quest, but luckily found solutions to both. For the sake of anyone who may encounter the issues I did:

If you get on a shark but the vehicle bar doesn't appear properly, while still on the shark type /console reloadui This should fix the UI issue, and bring the shark vehicle bar up properly.

If you get off the shark before finishing the quest and cannot mount another because the game claims the sharks are an "invalid target", simply drop the quest, then pick it up again and it should be okay.

Stand at (58,70).

Target a Famished Great Shark and use the quest item.

Then it's as simple as targetting Naga & hitting the first vehicle button.

WARNING:
UI Mods can mess with this quest, preventing you from being able to use the vehicle or vehicle buttons. Rather than try to figure out which one is the headache, just disable them all, complete the quest, then enable them all. Also, use /logout to dismount the vehicle if you get stuck on it, as leaving normally for me resulted in all further sharks giving an "Invalid Target" error message, causing me to have to abandon and reacquire the quest.

TLDR: If it no worky: /logout, disable all mods, log back in, do quest.

Sadly, the Orb of Suggestion does NOT work on the Whale Shark, i learned that the hard way!

I did this quest on 12/11. Turned off UI Addons as suggested, worked like a charm! As far as steering goes, think of the sharks as sailboats... you point them in the general direction you want to go and they keep going that way for a while, until you change directions again. You only need to get the shark in the general area of a naga, click 1 and they'll chomp on the nearest naga on their own.

The Clutch is where you go, for both subduing the sharks and eating the naga. It's located in the southern most point of the Kelp'thar Forest, around 59,70 for those who use coords.

If you want to have a bit fun, this shark can somehow attack players in deepmist gotto as well.
Although it can be killed off easily by the opposing fraction, but it doesnt trigger elite caven crawlers either.

There's some kind of UI-bug with this quest atm. When I reached 10/25 the quest tracker stopped counting them, so I abandoned it before going back to the cave to pick it up again. This time I noticed that the counter on screen said X/10, not X/25. Once again the quest tracker stopped at 10/25. Went back to the cave, and was able to hand it in. Seems like Blizzard reduced the number of kills to 10, but forgot to update the quest tracker UI. P=

The fact that the shark never stops moving forward is a nice touch. Most sharks are negatively buoyant and will sink if they stop swimming. This means they seldom sleep... No wonder they are so cranky!

Please note: As of the recent hoxfix this quest only requires 10 kills, however if you read the quest text, if i'm not the only one that does, it still says you need 25 kills.

I killed seven or eight sharks before I figured this one out: Don't attack the shark; target it and use the orb first. Do this and all will be well.

And as long as you are in the vicinity, you may as well grab the flight path up top. 57, 17 for alliance and 61, 27 for horde. YAY! Straight shot east to Ironforge.

Not currently working on the PTR. When you use the item, the sharks become passive "Dominated Great Sharks," but are not controlled, can still be attacked, and die quickly.

ETA: You seem to automatically mount the Dominated Great Shark if you "attack" it.

First of all ur looking for the shark? stand between to flags right after u exit cave then look upward you will see bunch of sharks use the qitem (orb) then drive by button 1 and thats it eal all of the naga!

After 4.0.6, they made a few changes to this quest. First, they changed the required kills from 10 to 12. It was originally 20 at launch and they hotfixed it down to 10. I'm not sure why they increased it again. Second, they changed where the Famished Sharks are that you command. They used to be swimming up above the naga near the water surface. After the patch, the sharks are outside the cave entrance around mid-sea level, no longer in the same area as the naga. Maybe some people had a hard time getting their shark so close to the naga.

In order to get you must complete before accepting.
and are NOT needed to take and followups, however that would make you unable to get.
Ожерелье леди Ла-Ла have 0% drop chance before done and 100% after, however anyone can share you this quest as long as you are 80+lvl.
Anyone can takeЖажда мести and do it's followups as long as they are 80+lvl. Quests above are NOT needed for it.

I had a problem using the orb to grab a shark - it kept saying invalid target. To fix it, I dropped my shadow priest out of shadow form. Once I was in in "normal form", I was able to use the orb and complete the quest.

I'm having the worse time with this quest on the second character I have in Kelp'thar forest. The previous character had no trouble with it (4.01, I believe when it was) Now I having trouble getting the shark to eat the naga, I mash on the #1 Eat Naga and it keeps saying "your pet is out of range".
I know I'm in the area where the quest should be performed. The shark is ignoring the naga and the naga are just swimming right by me. I somehow got 1/12 but can't get the other 11. I've watched the youtube videos and read the comments here but I'm getting so frustrated. Everyone says this is easy but its driving me crazy. I've dismissed the pet, turned off the addons, Finding the sharks and using the orb no problem, just finishing up the quest is the problem.

Any other suggestions?

I had the same problem. Couldnt continue in the zone. I reported the bug to a GM so hopefully it gets hotfixed soon.

I had to get a mage friend to port me back to orgrimar because my hearth was set inside abyssal depths. I was well and truly stuck there.

Same here, I'am unable to eat the NAGA have reported to GM. Have been swimming around for the last hour trying to bloody eat one.

Maybe the shark not that famished after all.

Was unable to dimount the shark had to dismount by typing /camp.

Was stuck in the area as my hearth stone was set to the grotto, had to surface on go the land mass shimmering expanse where a flight path was available.

GM replied to ticket he sugested /console reloadui, that didn't work for me then he suggested reset the UI by going into the WOW directory on my hard drive and delete the contents of the following files: Cache, WTF & interface since doing that it has worked.

Yet another incredibly confusing and/or poorly confusing quest. In this case, there are no sharks at all in this area, been swimming around for 20 mins, Not One Shark Seen. And based on the comments above, problems only begin if you do find one. Just terrible ...

The sharks are not found in the area where you're supposed to do the quest. I wasted time looking for 'em all over the place where the naga are.

If you head a bit north, just outside the outlined area for the quest, you will find loads of Famished Great Shark.
