Why go up so far on Disc and then not take Inner Focus? It's totally awesome and saves tons of mana and gets you crits.
The spec looks really interesting. Mana above all else ... but is it really necessary? Spirit Tap already gives 83% in combat regen, more then 100% is not possible. Speccing so much into Disc seems a waste for those additional 17% (since you are not even taking Inner Focus).

But I am wondering ... what does it give you over just Spirit Tap? Talking about questing here, not instancing.
The first mob dies fast so the Spirit Tap regen is up most of the time. Which is 83%. All those many points in Disc give nothing but 17% in combat regen then ... it hardly seems worth it.
From my (limited) experience I'd say that even 100% in combat regen all the time isn't enough to keep spamming everything.

i have a lvl 30 priest, that i've been running as shadow.. The main issue is... NO ONE wants to do lower level instances anymore (at least not on my server). Anything lower than ZF is merely people selling runthrus at 5-10g a pop. And after ZF... about the only instance left that pulls in a lot of people is BRD, and that was never run that much even in BC...
Now, while I will admit that I haven't tried playing as disc or holy for levelling. I have to say that as shadow, I can still kill at least 10-12 mobs in a row without needing to drink. Saying that SW:P is inefficient is only partly true.. If you spec into improved sw:p, and glyph if, it not only improves the usage of that spell, but it ALSO makes your mindflay spell less.... shi-crappy. :) BTW, you can reduce the CD of mind blast to as low as 5.5s from 8. Mind flay scales pretty well with the little bit of spell power you get from gear, and if you have a couple pieces of BoA gear and a maxed tailor alt (as I do) you can very have 50-60 sp at lvl 30, and just absolutely lay waste to anything you come across.. Mind flay gets a lot less crappy at rank two or three.
I'm sorry for picking, but I just thought I would throw it in from the point of view of a shadow priest who is actively levelling. It's very well written. :)

Haven't hit 20 yet, but I've been thinking about this a lot. With stacked spellpower and spirit, my Power Word: Shield actually does a lot of work for me, meaning that I find myself not needing Healing Focus. I plan on respeccing to 5/5 Holy Spec, 5/5 Divine Fury, possibly picking Desperate Prayer and then doing 3/3 Spirit Tap. Can't say how successful that would be without heirloom items though.
